Abstract Worlds - Watercolour Series

Being an artist is many things, but being one that wants to create works that resonate with myself and other people is sometimes conflicting.

Actually often conflicting.

I like creating beautiful works and in the instagram age it’s tough finding other people who also find my art beautiful.

I’ve just completed a series called “from the dark” and it was the best experience to further challenge my abilities. Transient Light and Tempest Light are my favourite two from the small series. I was so excited and entered them into local juried art prizes but realised that my skill or taste is not the same as many other people.

Creating many works on canvas is expensive and takes up a lot of room, my walls are almost full of my own paintings! As much as I love them, I would like for them to have other homes.

So I’ve decided to go back to where I started in 2013, works on paper with watercolours. Watercolours are unpredictable and handle very differently to oils so that will be a fun challenge.

I love the random forms that watercolour and salt create and with the ink pen I thought it would be fun to explore different made up places (and maybe some small abstract creatures!) , so a new series was born - “Abstract Worlds”

Thanks for reading so far and keep tuned for more works on paper!
